چکیده
The book mainly deals with modes of asphyxiation and methods of resuscitation. In the earlier chapters the author has discussed the role of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the physiology of the human system and the modern principles of shock and acapnia. The discussions on the fallacy of asphyxial acidosis and on the phenomenon of acarbia deserve special mention. The book was read all through with great interest, especially the chapters dealing with mountain sickness and acclimatization, carbon monoxide asphyxia, asphyxia of the newborn and their resuscitation. Impact of Video-recorded Debriefing and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Workshops on Short-term Outcomes and Quality of Neonatal Resuscitation
Background: The goal of neonatal resuscitation is to prevent death and further complications, reestablish spontaneous respiration, and achieve sufficient cardiac output. Inappropriate or wrong resuscitation will result in the death of neonates or long-term side effects. The present study was performed to compare the effects of video-recorded debriefing and neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) w...
متن کاملAdventures in Respiration. Modes of Asphyxiation and Methods of Resuscitation
After adventuring in the physiology and chemistry of respiration for more than forty years Professor Henderson pauses as he becomes emeritus to survey his career and to recount striking tales of combat and conquest. Many personal touches are preserved (e.g., p. 25) which are entirely lacking in the published abstracts of the encounters, but which are still vivid in the memories of those who too...
متن کاملPhysical restraint and near death of a psychiatric patient.
Physical restraint is used as a last resort emergency measure to calm and safeguard agitated and/or aggressive psychiatric patients. This can sometimes cause injuries, and rare fatalities have occurred. One mechanism of injury and death while in physical restraint is that of severe asphyxiation. We present the case of a hospitalized man in his mid-30s, suffering from schizophrenia. The patient ...

An animal model was designed to study the effect of large volume Hypertonic Solutions (HTS) for resuscitation following a hypovolemic shock. Resuscitation in hypovolemic animals was performed by infusion of 15 ml/kg of normal saline (group I), 5% sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) (group II), 5% sodium chloride (NaCI) and 7.5 % NaHCO3 1:1 VN (group III), 5% NaC1 (group IV), and 5% NaCl and 5% serum a...
متن کاملEvaluation of effective factors in the success of resuscitation of patients with in-hospital cardiopulmonary arrest
Background: Previous studies have shown that several factors affect the outcome of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In this study, we have evaluated the factors associated with the outcome of resuscitation in in-hospital cardiopulmonary arrest patients (IHCA) 002E. Methods: This cross-sectional non-probability study was performed on patients with in-hospital cardiopulmonary arrest between 2015 a...
